Lex Group Hires Industry Veteran Scott McDonald as VP Operations

CHICAGO, May 13, 2019 – Lex Group, one of the largest flat-rolled steel and metal distributers in North America, has hired Scott McDonald, a steel industry veteran with almost 30 years of experience, as vice president of operations of its Lex Central facility based in Bedford Park.

In his new position, McDonald, a resident of Naperville, will have a broad range of responsibilities ranging from supervision of overall plant production and cost and performance efficiency to quality control, new equipment procurement, technology innovation, regulatory compliance and more, according to Bill Douglass, president of Lex Central.

Previously, McDonald was vice president of North American operations for National Materials Company in Riverdale, Ill., vice president of the cold rolled strip division for Steel Warehouse in South Bend, Ind., and operations manager of Worthington Steel in Columbus, Ohio.

With a bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University and master of business administration (MBA) from Illinois Benedictine University, McDonald remains active in the academic arena as a frequent lecturer at OSU’s Fisher College of Business.
