Electrolytic zinc coated sheet steel is a product which has been given a thin coating of zinc applied on one or both sides by electrolytic deposition.

The coating of zinc by electrolytic deposition normally has a uniform dull gray matte appearance. The product is expected to match adjacent parts in an assembly after high gloss painting. Automotive body parts are an example of its use.

Generally, the light two sided electrolytic zinc coated steel is not recommended for extended outdoor service. However, new heavier coating lines are now producing coatings that may be suitable for some exterior uses.
